What Is Tuki? (in one sentence)
Tuki is a marketplace app for plants - it allows people to buy and sell plants, all through a simple and easy to use app.
Current Pain Points We're Fixing
The biggest pain point we're fixing is that it's not easy to buy and sell plants currently - current marketplaces just aren't set up for plant selling. That's why people resort to selling them from outside their homes to passers-by. We want to make it quick and convenient, and safe, to buy and sell plants from anywhere.
Planned Features
Right now, our app is a bit like the early versions of Vinted, but for plants. As soon as you open the app, you're into a feed of amazing plants to buy. You can filter by categories, tags, location, price etc, and by text. You can add and remove plants from your shortlist, and can message sellers.
When it comes to buying, you can buy now or make an offer. And once the offer is accepted, buyers and sellers message to arrange collection. The final payout is never completed until a code is entered into the system, releasing the funds. Payment is through cards or apple or google pay.
Our Vision for the Future
We have so many ideas, it was very difficult to limit what we build for the initial launch. Some ideas we want to introduce are:
- Bundles, allow more discounts for sellers that bundle items together
- Optional delivery, allow sellers to add a delivery fee
- Promotions, pay more to promote your item
- Plug into last mile delivery services, using couriers to deliver items
- Plant recognition tool to help you name the plant when it's listed
- Upload care guides or have them generated for you
- Add size as a filtering option

How We're Building It
Right now, we're mindful of not building too much without more user feedback, so we're pausing development and working hard to get a product to market and helping buyers and sellers connect. In time, once we're live in London with an established set of users, then we can scale up product development and ship exciting new features as we go.
